Bonny Doon Vineyards De Proprio Gravitas 2015

Randall Grahm, founder and tireless leader of Bonny Doon Vineyards, is one of the patron saints of 311 E Market Street.  He visited the shop several times in its (and his? He is an eternal oenological shape-shifter.) previous incarnation, and Siân and Thadd tasted through his wines with him most recently in the spring.  You will find hints of Randall all over Market Street Wine: on the shelves, the walls, and in a certain pursuit of knowledge, adventure, and irreverence for dogma.  Some of his longest experiments remain classics of California iconoclasm (like the ground-breaking Cigare Volant), but Randall is constantly seeking new ways to make excellent wines.  The De Proprio Gravitas is the most recent Bonny Doon addition to our shop, and we are happy to feature it at a special price.

Many people have little acquaintance with the earthy/floral white wines of Bordeaux, which run from the often prosaic Entre-deux-Mers to the sublime vins de terroir of Pessac and Graves; these undersung wines have created the template for the Bonny Doon “Gravitas.”

61% Semillon, 35% Sauvignon Blanc, 4% Gewürztraminer, all farmed biodynamically.
