A few years ago, brewer Mark Fulton was known for being the Director of Brewing Operations at Maine Beer Company — brewers of much coveted, small batch brews. However, before spending time in the Pine Tree State, Fulton got a BA in History from UVA. So maybe it shouldn’t be a surprise that he returned to Jefferson Town, to a space behind Costco on 29 North, and helped open Reason Beer. Their New SOP is a great Double IPA with a piney aroma, a sweet malt base, and a hop character that’s a play of earthy and floral notes. It is also much coveted. Thou shalt not miss this beer!
