Amarillo and Summer hops make up the fifth installation of Basic City’s hazy series.

We admit it. We’re suckers for a good beer series. It’s fun to taste brewers taking a central concept and tweaking around it. Hop series in particular are great ways to get to know different hop profiles. Number five in Basic City’s Hop Tropikos Series leans less to the “Tropikos” and more towards the “Hop.” The tropical notes of the Australian Summer hop come through on the nose as it’s used mostly for dry-hopping. Most of the bitterness comes from the good old fashioned citrusy Amarillo hop. If you want to get crazy with the hazy without jamming to the juice, then five is your lucky number.
