Valle dell’Acate is one of the most well-known and active vineyards in southeastern Sicily. The company is run by Gaetana Jacono, part of the family’s sixth generation of winemakers. Under her direction, the winery is committed to the use of eco-sustainable winemaking techniques and to re-establishing ancient Sicilian wine traditions.

Insolia (or, occasionally, Inzolia) has been grown in Sicily, Sardinia, Elba, and Tuscany since ancient times and is one of the major grapes used in Marsala, Sicily’s sweet fortified wine. When fermented dry, however, it makes for a fantastic food wine, fresh and herbal and particularly excellent with fish. Another shop fave at a great price!
