Those are fountains of hops, in case that wasn't clear.

Ten Bends Green Fountains

Regularly $16.99 / Now on Sale for $14.96
New England Style IPA

Vermont residents identify ten major bends in the Lamoille River as it winds its way through the northwest wilderness of the state. If you get to bends five and six, make land and head over to the village of Hyde Park. (No, it’s not like that. It’s named after Revolutionary War captain Jedediah Hyde — “Jedediah,” in the top ten list of popular Biblical names that no one can really pull off anymore.) A long time destination for wealthy New Yorkers and Bostonians looking to escape summer in the city, the village sits just 40 miles south of Quebec and is a place for hiking, fly fishing, and pre-COVID tourism. Since 2016, Hyde Park has also been the home of Ten Bends Brewing Company.

Co-founders Jason Powell and Mike Scarlata began brewing together in 2012, in a shed, in the woods. Four years later, they were carting their “artisanal ales” off to beer festivals and opening their own brewery. They dedicate themselves to small-batch beers that reflect the “unique nature” of their area of Vermont. We don’t quite know what that ad copy means, we just drink their beer … gladly.

The Ten Bends Green Fountains is a beautiful New England Style IPA. it’s got a smooth body with a subtle sweetness that you really should find in an NEIPA as it helps bring out the juiciness. However, the star of this beer is the Strata hop. Originally bred in 2009, it underwent a seven year evaluation before being shipped out to select breweries (like Odell and Sierra Nevada) for test batches. Good for bittering and dry-hopping, Stata imparts notes of tropical fruit, grapefruit, and cannabis. All those flavors come into play in the Green Fountains. Fortunately, the only bend you have to encounter to enjoy some is the bend in your arm.

Caboose Hobo Imperial Stout with Vanilla Bean

Regularly $16.99 / Now on Sale for $14.96
Imperial Stout with Vanilla Beans

“Caboose Brewing Company’s Hobo Stout has been around since the very beginning. Since we opened our doors in 2015, Hobo has been on tap.

“We’ve experimented with our Hobo several times throughout the years. Everything from adding adjuncts like Vanilla, barrel aging in wine and whiskey barrels, and even bottling at one point. In fact, it is the only beer Caboose has ever bottled! And now, we can. And we are so excited about this beer!

“Our Brewery Operations Manager, Ryan, says that he tastes cherry vanilla cola on the nose! He describes this beer as chocolate and toffee up front, complemented by rich caramel pecan undertones.

“Executive Chef David Rabin describes the Hobo as, ‘Malty and full bodied with vanilla and hazel nut flavors.’ He says the Hobo, ‘Reminds him of sitting by the fire during a snowy winter.’

“David recommends pairing our Vanilla Hobo Stout with mac ‘n cheese, smoked brisket, coffee cake, and donuts. So basically, all the best foods in the world.”
