Since 1955, three generations of the Dupuis family has worked the vines at Domaine des Vercheres, located in the Royer Valley in the heart of the Mâcon Mancey appellation. Owner Andre Dupuis is now succeeded by his two sons, Rémi and Jean-Christophe.

Dupuis Père pioneered the use of the “Guyot simple” pruning method, then more common in the Cote d’Or, but not in the Macon region. By using this method, which leaves one fruit-bearing branch (cane) on the vine, the viticulturist is able to reduce yields and obtain more concentrated fruit.

The Macon Villages Chardonnay is grown in 2 plots in the communes of Mancey and Royer. The soils here are a mix of clay & limestone, with small white pebbles covering the surface. Unusually, the rows are mulched with alternating straw mulch & grass cover, which aerates the soil and has virtually eliminated the use of herbicides & fertilizers in the vineyard. After a quick press at the winery, the juice ferments using only native yeasts, before full malolactic fermentation, and finishes aging in stainless steel tanks.

This Burgundy is a PERFECT Thanksgiving wine, and will class up your table for the rest of the year if you stock up!
