Beer of the Week! 05/19/20
Basic City PHaD DIPA
Regularly $14.99 / Now on Sale for $12.96
Unfiltered Double IPA
Believe it or not, this brew is the second unfiltered IPA that we've had that's been inspired by the Piña Colada. However, unlike what Commonwealth Brewing did with theirs (the Common Grounds), Wayensboro Wonders Basic City elicit the aromas and flavors of that most classic of umbrella drinks through just their choice of hops.
The PHaD is also our second beer to feature Sabro and Cashmere hops. The Cashmere hop is a Washington State University developed hop that imparts a lot of fruit notes (anything from lime and melon to peach!) Though a product of Yakima Valley's HBC (Hop Breeding Company), the Sabro hop -- giving off both citrus and fruit notes -- traces its roots to the mountains of New Mexico. In fact, it's one of the few hops to have it's ancestry right here on this continent! (Sabro -- the All American Hop!)
The PHaD is as creamy as an unfiltered double IPA gets but keeps a light body. Considering the cocktail that inspires it, you'd expect the PHaD to be sweet. However, it's dry with a strong citrus backbone to it. For all the personal seconds for us, this beer comes in first place on our palates.
Bonus Beer of the Week ('Cause we all need a little something special right now.)

IPA
"The embodiment of Virginia hospitality, Hardywood VIPA offers alluring tropical aromatics, a refreshingly delicate body and a bright, juicy finish. Heirloom Virginia barley rounds out the malt bill and creates a perfect sense of balance with a dose of citrusy Virginia hops. VIPA is our take on a Virginia India Pale Ale, or as we like to call it, Virgindia Pale Ale." - Hardywood Park Craft Brewery
