German-Style Pilsner
It’s our contention that Pilsners are the IPAs of the Lager world. By that, we mean that the defining factor that separates them from other lagers is their hops. However, we don't mean to say that Pilsners should be extra bitter like American IPAs -- not at all.
The key is the type of hops we're talking about. Traditionally brewed Pilsners are made with good old-fashioned Noble Hops. Noble Hops originated in Central Europe and are highly aromatic with relatively low alpha acid bitterness.
That said, Ardent Craft Ales out of Richmond leans a little heavy on the gas as they drive their Pilsner down Noble Hop Highway. Their German Style Pilsner uses loads and loads of Hallertauer Mittelfrüh hops giving the beer a grassy bitterness that almost swerves into the mint lane.
Still, the Ardent Pilsner isn't just about the hops. It also has a lager's bready malt profile with a little bit of sweetness under the hood. So, check out this American take on a German beer for a refreshing, herbal-hoppy ride.

Old Bust Head Certain Swagger

New England Style IPA
"Citra and Hallertau Blanc shine brightly in our intentionally hazy Double IPA. These ultra aromatic American and European hops lend our unfiltered brew Sauvignon Blanc and white grapefruit aromas, along with the unmistakable flavors of fresh mango and passion fruit juice. A touch of wheat gives a soft and pillowy mouthfeel, and makes this brew look as good as it tastes."
