It’s time! It’s time!
With Bell’s Brewery’s return to the state, we are, once again, offered their perennial winter release, the Bell’s Hopslam Ale! This Double IPA boasts six different hop varieties (which Bell’s won’t disclose), Simcoe for dry-hopping, and honey to fatten out the malt bill. However, as we have loved to point out in the past, the Hopslam is not the only Double Honey IPA worthy of your attention.
From Goochland’s Lickinghole Creek Farm Brewery, the Nuclear Nugget is a hopslosion device fueled by Centennial hops, Nugget hops, and local clover honey from Virginia’s first farm brewery. It has been one of our favorite IPAs for years when we’ve held a lonely soapbox insisting that the Nuclear Nugget is a comparable, Nay! superior Double Honey IPA to the Hopslam!
Now, you get to test our assertion. We’re featuring both of these beers so that you can get the lowdown from your own throw down! In this corner, the Great from out of state, the Kalamazoo Crusher, the Michigan Slammer, the Bell’s Hopslam Ale! And in this corner, the Hometown Hop Bomb, the Nuclear Knockout, the Goochland Grandstander, Lickinghole Creek’s Nuclear Nugget!
