Beer of the Week! 04/21/21
Jackie O’s Mystic Mama
Regularly $13.99 / Now on Sale for $12.96
West Coast Style IPA
Let us be clear about one thing at the start — we are totally down for a snazzy, new, hazy, juicy IPA. However, sometimes you just want to dive into some old-fashioned hoptastic bitterness. So, it’s a good thing that Jackie O’s Pub & Brewery from Athens, OH makes a tasty West Coast Style IPA. (That’s right … Ohio!)
The Mystic Mama starts with 2-Row and Cara Pils malt with some White Wheat thrown in to make things interesting. Those malts build the foundation for a “complex mix” of five hops — Centennial, Citra, Columbus, Falconer’s Flight, and Simcoe. Now, you’d think that all those hops would gather together to slam you with bitterness, and certainly you get your fill of fiery citrus with a slight hint pine. However, though the Mystic Mama tastes great, where it really stands out is in how it smells. The dry-hopping is on point, filling your nose with citrus aroma. All these elements together make us go to the Mid-West for one of our favorite West Coast Style IPAs.

Anchor Porter
Regularly $11.99 / Now on Sale for $10.96
American Porter
“With deep black color, a thick, creamy head, rich chocolate, toffee and coffee flavors, and full-bodied smoothness, Anchor Porter® is the epitome of a handcrafted dark beer.
“A blend of specially roasted pale, caramel, chocolate, and black malts, along with our top-fermenting yeast, creates complexity without bitterness. The brew is hopped at a high rate, and naturally carbonated. The result is dark in the glass, but surprisingly light on the palate.
“Anchor Porter® became the first modern American porter style beer when it was introduced in 1972. Over 40 years later, our porter continues to reward those who look beyond its intimidating appearance to discover its smooth, full-bodied drinkability. Anchor Porter® is the definitive American Porter.
