Bingo Costa Chica

Regularly $11.99 / Now on Sale for $10.96
Mexican Style Amber Lager

Richmond’s Bingo Beer Company loves lagers. They love to make them and love for us to drink them. As the heat and humidity return, Bingo is here to put your summer in a can!

The Costa Chica (the “Little Coast”) is a Pacific coastal region in the Mexican state of Guerrero that runs south of Acapulco to the border of Oaxaca. Of course, we’ve never been there, but the people at Bingo say it’s, “… a perfect slice of land … that is dotted with little beach towns that beg you to grab a beer, dig your toes in the sand + soak in some honest local beach culture.” To capture their feeling of this area, Bingo has made a Mexican Style Amber Lager.

This brew is a straight-up easy drinker. It’s light-bodied, featuring an appealing nuttiness to the malt that bounces up against some moderate hopping like a beachball against a volleyball net. It’s a beer for people who want a clean, clear, simple ride from their brew that doesn’t shy away from being tasty.

Bonus Beer of the Week (‘Cause we’re old enough that “being extra” is not a bad thing.)

North Coast Barrel-Aged Old Rasputin XXIII

Regularly $19.99 / Now on Sale for $17.96
Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout

Every year Fort Bragg, California’s North Coast Brewing Company bourbon barrel ages their classic, multiple award-winning Imperial Russian Stout, the Old Rasputin. In case you don’t know (or it’s been awhile) the Old Rasputin is not a beer that strives to be easy. You’ve got to walk up to it. It’s got a strong, roasted malt bill that, bold as it is, can’t cover up the prodigious amount of hops that North Coast puts in. Surprisingly, the stout is light-bodied which only lets those flavors stand out more.

Interestingly enough, bourbon barrel aging mellows and rounds out this monster, eliciting bread and coffee notes in the malt and subsuming the hop bite in the bourbon’s sting. All the time, the brew impossibly remains light-bodied keeping it from filling you up. It’s so easy to drink; you can enjoy this barrel-aged stout even though it’s summer.
