Pilsner Style Lager

So, because it’s such a simple and straightforward style, it’s hard to make a good Pilsner. For the same reason, it’s hard to make a Pilsner that stands out from the crowd. Thus, it’s notable when Virginia Beach’s Commonwealth Brewing Company does both.

One of our favorite Pilsner style lagers is back! The Commonwealth Aureole uses noble hops from Czech and Styria in a classic Pilsner fashion, but they break from tradition with their malts. For the Aureole, Commonwealth uses the same malts that Belgian brewers use in their Golden / Pale Ales, and you can taste the difference!

Notes of honey on the nose continue onto the palate with hints of vanilla in the background before the brew finishes dry from the noble hops. It’s a heck of a Pilsner, which straddles Belgian and Czech styles, and we have it here to help you pass through the summer easier.

Kettle-Soured Wheat Ale with Montmorency Cherries

  • “A kettle-soured wheat beer conditioned on Montmorency Cherries.”

  • ”Fragrances and flavors of Hibiscus, lemon zest, sourdough, and cherry pie.”

  • ”Pinkish in color, this beer is dry with refreshing acidity.”

  • Trapezium Brewing Company

This beer is so well balanced between its sourness and the sweetness of the cherries. It’s a mildly tart ale that goes down easily.
