Beer of the Week! 09/28/21
3 Floyds Cherry Canis Invertus
Regularly $18.99 / Now on Sale for $17.96
Flemish Style Red Ale (Sour) with Cherries
Most of the beers that make up the year-round offerings of 3 Floyds Brewing Company out of Munster, IN (a bedroom community in the southern Chicago metropolitan sprawl) are APAs and IPAs. However, scratch the surface of their seasonal and limited release beers, and you’ll find a much broader field of styles. Case in point, the Canis Invertus.
The Canis Invertus — named after (so says 3 Floyds) “an obscure sect of assassins” — was 3 Floyd’s Flemish Style Red Ale. They’ve now taken it and have added cherries (almost always a good move). So you have a lovely brew where a strong tartness goes neck and neck with a robust cherry flavor, both fighting each other for the spotlight, inviting us to enjoy the struggle. All of this takes place under a rich, fruity aroma that has to be wafted to be believed. (Warning! This beer is delicious, but not for the faint of tart.)
Bonus Beer of the Week (‘Cause sometimes we just like to show off the cool beers that we’ve gotten for you.)
New Realm Transcendental Experimental Double IPA
Regularly $13.99 / Now on Sale for $12.96
Hazy Double IPA
Virginia Beach’s New Realm Brewing Company continues their adventure into new and exciting hoppiness! This beer is their second collaboration with John I. Haas — a member of the BarthHaas Group, the world’s largest hop supplier. Together, they have worked to bring in two experimental hops to be the bittering backbone of this Double IPA. First, we have HBC 586 care of the Hope Breeding Company and secondly, we have BRU-1 from Brulotte Farms. The combined hop profile presents bright, cool berry notes with an almost minty finish.
