Les Vins de L’Herré “La Galope” Côtes de Gascogne Rosé 2021
Regularly $11.99/OnSale for $9.96
Gascony is famous for two things: musketeers, and the ducks that form the basis for so much of its gastronomy. The shop favorite La Galope Sauvignon Blanc features a duck in the garb of a musketeer, embodying panache. The La Galope Rosé that we are featuring this week displays a duck costumed like a fine Gascony lady. But don’t let this slightly regressive framing lead you astray! This is one rosé for all, and we suggest you all be for this one rosé! The Côtes de Gascogne is not far from Bordeaux, and many of the grapes used will be familiar to any Bordeaux lover. But their position at the base of the Pyrenees allows for large temperature swings between night and day later in the growing season, shifts that allow grapes to ripen and rest in a dynamic way that gives reds, whites, and rosés from the region an unparalleled freshness! The La Galope Rosé is 55% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Merlot, and 10% Marselan (a cross of Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon) and 100% absolutely delicious. Beautiful juicy berries on the nose and at first taste, but then a crisp citrus rush in the finish that clears your palate for the next sip! This is our first featured rosé of the season, and it’s definitely the one to load up on. Made to be in your ice box. Allez!
