Wine of the Week 7/12/2022

La Grande Courtade "L'Instant" Pays d'Oc Rouge
Regularly $14.99/On sale for $11.96

The members of Famille Fabre currently running this estate are the 15th and 16th generations to do so. They began cultivating vines in Corbieres in 1605 and have gone on to acquire 300 hectares of vines in the Languedoc. With an eye on traditional wine making and leaving healthy land for their future generations, they converted to organic farming starting in 1991.
The Grande Courtade sits at 980 feet above sea level and the hillside has a mediterranean climate tempered by the sea. It is planted to classic grape varieties like chardonnay and Cabernet but the family has somewhat more recently added varieties like Alicante-Bouschet and Alvarinho in response to the changing climate. This wine is a blend of Grenache and Alicante-Bouschet and is poised and ready for a whole range of weeknight meals from pasta night to burgers on the grill.
