Day Wines Vin de Days L'Orange
Regularly $29.99/On sale for $26.99
(43% Müller Thurgau, 36% Riesling, 14% Gewürztraminer, 7% Pinot gris)
Days wines was founded by winemaker Brianne Day in 2012 and is a boutique winery working with organic, biodynamic/and or sustainable vineyards in Oregon. They focus on grapes from the Willamette and Applegate valleys and make thoughtful, approachable, low intervention wines. The L’Orange is an aromatic “orange” wine with all the lovely floral aromas you would expect and is full of fresh and candied orange and stone fruits. Three weeks of maceration on skins provides some grip. We can attest it is DEELISH and so far we find that Days Wines reveal more complexity than you initially expect based on the package and first impressions.
Gulpable but worth a bit more time and attention.
Jean-Paul Brun Terres Dorées L'Ancien Beaujolais
Regularly $29.99/On sale for $22.49
(100% Gamay)
We <3 Jean-Paul Brun wines. In general a good bottle of Beaujolais is almost always a solid choice, no matter the occasion. That is doubly true if the bottle comes from Jean-Paul Brun.
Brun makes his wines with a light touch. Native yeasts, low sulphur, not chaptalized, and the result is fresh and elegant Gamay. The “L’Ancien” wines are made from the oldest vines, 40-60 years in this case. The result is pretty and lush fruits (cherry) and food friendly acidity and soft tannins. Perfect for a summer sip with or without snacks and extremely flexible with whatever you are putting on the table for dinner. Serve with a slight chill.
