This week’s wine of the week comes from dry farmed old vines in the Madrid DO in central Spain. Zestos wines are named for the baskets that were (until not that long ago) used to carry grapes in from the vineyards. This wine comes from one of our favorite importers of Spanish wines Olé & Obrigado and it offers tremendous value. Made from 100% Malvar, a grape native to the Iberian Peninsula, it is medium bodied with ripe stone fruits and bright acidity, and is totally delicious.
