Three Notch’d / Samuel Adams
History in the Making

Normally $13.99 / Now on Sale for $12.96
New England Style IPA

Three Notch’d Brewing Company + Boston Beer Company!!

Head brewer Dave Warwick and head brewer Megan Parisi — together! In our little town!!

This pairing didn’t really happen, did it Dave Warwick?

"This was a unique collaboration with Samuel Adams that I really enjoyed. Megan (Head Brewer at Sam Adams Boston Taproom) is HIGHLY revered in the craft beer industry. I've always looked up to her ever since I met her in 2012 when she was the Brewmaster for Bluejacket Brewery in D.C. For this brew, I gave Megan our recipe for Minute Man, which is a crystal clear, but juicy, kinda hybrid IPA. Megan tweaked the recipe to make it a true, ‘traditional’ New England-Style IPA that we're both so excited for everyone to try.

“Sam Adams is arguably the most iconic and impactful brewery in the country and I can honestly say that brewing with Megan and Sam Adams has been one of the very greatest moments in my 17-year brewing career. I was so honored to host the best in the business in our humble little Virginia brewery!"

Just when you thought someone couldn’t make an NEIPA stand out anymore … the juiciness in the History in the Making is definitely there, but there’s something at the back of the palate that adds a pleasant, tasty surprise. Is it whiffs of pine, hints of annis? Whatever it is, we’re fans!

(For an extra treat, try a 60/40 blend of the History in the Making with our Spotlight beer, Hardywood Park’s Hardywood Farmhouse Pumpkin!)

Bonus Beer of the Week (‘Cause we made our saving thrown against the “Empty Glass” spell.)

Väsen Blue Sky Kölsch

Normally $13.99 / Now on Sale for $12.96
Kölsch Style Ale

As we’ve said before, one of the things that strikes us about the craft beer world is the number of craft breweries that make community support a core part of their mission. Sure you get your share of people who talk about being a “positive force in the community” as an ad copy friendly way of saying, “We hope a lot of people come here a lot of times to buy a lot of our beer.” Also, not to be cynical, but water protection as a cause makes easy sense for breweries, who often choose their locations based on the quality of the water available. However, there are a number of craft breweries who back up their words with works — events, advocacy, and straight up moolah. In this vein, Richmond’s Väsen Brewing Company has worked with Richmond’s Blue Sky Fund pretty much since Väsen opened.

Since 2015, the non-profit Blue Sky Fund has provided “transformational experiences” to Richmond area youth through outdoor experiences and activities. Not only can these experiences offer these kids learning opportunities (especially in the sciences), but they can build characters by promoting self-confidence and by teaching either collaborative or leadership skills …. or both.

Last year, Väsen took their latest step in this relationship by brewing the Blue Sky Kölsh (and donating a portion of the proceeds to the fund). Bewitchingly accessible, any harsh notes are dimmed. Even the usual kölsch grape flavor comes across fruitier than normal. The Blue Sky is the smiley, happy kölsch.
