Beer of the Week! 12/26/2023

Aslin Orange Starfish

Normally $15.99 / Now on Sale for $14.96
New England Style IPA

In 2015, in Herndon, VA, Brothers-in-law Andrew Kelley and Kai Leszkowicz founded Aslin Beer Company. (Aslin is their wives’ maiden name.) Their very first beer was this New England Style IPA, the Orange Starfish. Though they’ve brewed many NEIPAs over the years, with a number of them being variations on the Orange Starfish, they’ve yet to abandon their first love.

True to its name, the Orange Starfish features strong orange notes, maybe hints of pine on the finish if you want to look for them. That’s Galaxy and Citra hops doing their duty there. However, since the Orange Starfish is brewed dry, it leans more to the tarter side of the orange tree.

This beer is definitely an NEIPA for people who’re more into the haze than the juice.

Bonus Beer of the Week (‘Cause Santa’s never content with just one “Ho.”)

Aslin Master of Oranges

Normally $20.99 / Now on Sale for $19.96
Double New England Style IPA

Aslin Beer Company’s Master of Oranges is a hybrid version of two of their other New England Style IPAs — their Double Orange Starfish and their Master of Karate (one of our favorites of theirs).

Now we’re talking Mosaic, Amarillo, Galaxy, and Citra hops. Boasting a little more body, the Master is a little creamier than the Orange Starfish. It remains dry, but the increased malt bill smooths out the tartness some.

Note, no oranges were harmed in the brewing of either of these brews.
