Lost Boy Explorer Series: Beach Day

$16.99 for the four-pack 16oz cans
Hard Apple Cider with Ginger & Hibiscus

Lost Boy Cider in Alexandria, VA has been running their Explorer Series since at least 2021. The wackiest thing we’ve seen on it is a cider with cucumber and pickling spices. They called it the Gherkin. Awesome. They have not been as adventurous for this latest installment, choosing, instead, some old cider favorites.

The Beach Day is a hard apple cider with ginger and hibiscus.

First Lost Boy starts with a batch of their unfiltered, unpasteurized flagship dry cider, the Comeback Kid. After fermentation, they put some aside and add in ginger puree. Meanwhile, they’ve brewed a dry hibiscus flower tea, and when that’s done, they pour it into the cider as well. They then rack, carbonate, and Bam! You’re ready for a bit of summer fun for your beach or porch or cookout (or all three).

Ginger and hibiscus is a great combination in a cider. You can clearly taste both of the components as they comfortably cozy up to the Comeback Kid’s slight tanginess. This cider is easy to drink and easy to enjoy. Our guess is Lost Boy doesn’t want to use this explorer to get you pickled as much as keep you cool as the summer temperatures climb.
