Pairings with Piaz - Dumpings that Empower
Joining our regular Wednesday night beer tasting will be Piaz Dumplings.
Saule Kassengaliyeva, Piaz's founder, will be using our beer tasting to do a little market research for her new company, which she plans to launch as a pop-up in Charlottesville and then grow into a DC-based restaurant and distributor for small-batch beers.
Saule is a first-generation immigrant to the U.S. and a former cook at the Artisa Supper Club, Masa 14, and the Restaurant at the Pawtomack Farm. (Currently, she is pursuing an MBA from the Darden School of Business.)
Saule believes that food is a cultural gateway. She hopes Piaz Dumplings will invite national residents to celebrate the vibrancy immigrant communities bring while providing job opportunities to immigrant women.
