On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Galveston, TX learned they were free nearly three years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. The date is now celebrated annually in Black communities across the country. What is Juneteenth? How is it celebrated? What can we learn from this celebration of freedom and liberation?

We have chosen a few wines that we hope are in the spirit of this celebration. We will taste together as we hear from Niya.
