Montenidoli

Maria Elisabetta Fagiuoli purchased the land for Montenidoli in 1965, beat back the wilderness, and planted vines that, today, comprise organic vineyards. Fagiuoli moved to this property – once a stronghold of the Templar Knights – and made wine while also opening up the doors to be a haven for youth who would otherwise go to reform schools for juvenile delinquency.

A fierce 92 year-old matriarch of Tuscan wine, she’s built a life outside of San Gimignano, marching to the beat of her own drum, crafting her “Mountain of Tiny Nests” into a forest reserve, while, at the same time, crafting great wine.
