Lagunitas Brown Shugga’
Regularly $10.99/On sale for $9.96
American Strong Ale

There’s a reason why the Lagunitas Brown Shugga’ tastes like a junior barleywine. It came into being one 1997 day when Lagunitas failed to make their now-retired Old Gnarleywine. At that time, they fed brown cane sugar to their yeast, which they say is “a’kin to feeding raw shark to your gerbil.” What they got is a dark golden ale that hits you with a dark honey sweetness up front and then follows that with plenty of piney hops. If you like American barleywines and double IPAs, then this beer is one of America’s great ales. Enjoy it now, because it will be gone before you want it to be.
