Tröegs Brewing Company in Hershey, PA has an annual series that they call “The Hop Cycle.” The final beer in that cycle, celebrating the hop harvest’s bounty, is this one, the Blizzard of Hops. There’s Pilsner malt — the choice malt to showcase hop flavor — but also unmalted wheat and white wheat giving you a smooth, hazy bed for Centennial, Chinook, and El Dorado hops to jump up and down on. With dry-hopped Chinook and Galaxy providing bright aromas, the Blizzard tastes like walking in a pine forest with a satsuma orange. Get this sucker ice cold and ready yourself for what sounds like a contradiction — a cold weather IPA.
