Wine of the Week 9/4/18
Lestrille Entre-Deux-Mers Bordeaux Blanc
Regularly $14.99/On sale for $11.96
Entre-Deux-Mers is a sub region of Bordeaux producing only white wines, or rather only the white wines can carry the name. Translated as “between two seas” because of its location between two tributaries, it produces wines that are the very definition of what we hope our wines of the week to be. Top quality but approachable, and because the region hasn’t garnered the same ratings as other locations, they often very much outperform their price point. This fresh white made from Sauvignon Blanc and a touch of Muscadelle is bright and fresh with lovely citrus and stone fruit and a hint of floral perfume. Jean-Louis Roumage is the owner and winemaker at lestrille which has belonged to her family since the 19th century. As a agricultural engineer she prides herself on approaching her vineyards and wine-making with sustainable practices and modern techniques, but also a commitment to tradition.
