For their latest IPA, our favorite Crozet brewing friends, Starr Hill, have decided to walk a line between the new New England Style IPA and the now-traditional West Coast Style. First off, though unfiltered, this brew is only lightly hazy — enough to pause NE IPA stalwarts. However most of the style play comes in Starr Hill’s choice of hops. You’ve got your Mosaic and Galaxy hops giving you those tropical fruit flavors that you want in an NE IPA, but then you have Citra and Columbus giving you a surprisingly resiny finish. It’s a well done balancing act that tempts us, again, to say, “Have you checked out Starr Hill lately?”
