Wine of the Week 1/15/19

Conde Villar Tinto Alentejo Regional

Quinta das Arcas, which produces Conde Villar, is a family owned winery that has significant vineyard holdings in both the DOC Vinho Verde as well as DOC Alentejo.   In Alentejo, the winery’s holdings included 150 acres of vineyards with Portuguese and international varieties, and 75 acres of olive trees. The winery also engages in cheese-making from cow’s milk produced on the estate.

Responsible for a majority of Portugal’s fine wine production—and over half of the world’s cork production—Alentejo is characterized by stretches of rolling plains and vineyards dotted with majestic cork oaks.

This red blend is composed of the most classic Alentejo varietals: 40% Aragonez (Tempranillo), 30% Trincadeira, 20% Alicante Bouschet, and 10% Touriga Nacional.

Regularly $10.99, on sale for a staggering $8.96!
