Tikveš Macedon Pinot Noir 2016
Regularly $18.99/On Sale for $14.96

This wine, named after Alexander the Great, the original “Macedon,” hails from the Tikves valley of Macedonia, which shares its latitude with Burgundy and the Russian River Valley. Considering that this spot also sits at the confluence of two weather fronts – from the Aral Mountains and the Aegean Sea – which produce an almost constant drying wind and very little rainfall, you have an ideal spot to grow Pinot Noir.

The valley is also historically significant for wine as it lies at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, and it is here that many historians believe the first grape vines carried from Mesopotamia were planted. There are archaeological findings that prove people were growing grapes in this part of the world in the 13th century BC!

After harvesting the grapes from 40+ year old vines, winemaker Dane Jovanos lets the juice soak on the skins for 18 hours before being fermented in stainless steel tanks.

95% Pinot Noir, 5% Vranec.
