Amber Ale with Apple and Cinnamon

This autumnal treat comes from Three Notch’d brewer Mary Morgan. With this beer, Morgan goes the Deep VA route starting with an amber ale using malt from Copper Fox Distillery and then adding Tyro, VA apples from Silver Creek and Seaman Orchards and cinnamon from the Spice Diva. Of course, in a beer such as this the blend is everything, and here the spice wraps around the apple, both bobbing around on your tongue only to be followed by an herbal hoppy finish. Think of it as your sparkling cold apple toddy. You won't want to fall too far from this tree. Hail, Mary!

So they’ve taken wheat, barley, oats, and torrified wheat malts, gently bittered them with whole flower Tettnang and Citra hops, and somehow from just malt and hops they’ve made one of the most successful "winter wheats" we've tasted. Spicy clove and banana gently mix with hop citrus -- so good you'll set aside your mulled cider.
