Bodegas Y Viñedos Merayo Mencia
Regularly $13.99/On sale for $12.49

The key to the Merayo wines are the ancient Mencia bushvines. Even the entry level wine is made from +80 year old vineyards. Mencia, the dominant grape of Bierzo in north-west Spain, is sometimes described as the Pinot Noir of Spain; while it can make a simple, grapey wine, it also rewards careful viticulture and patient winemaking.  The Merayo family have been growing grapes for generations in Bierzo, and Pedro Merayo still tends the grapes while young winemaker Ferrian Uria tries to stay out of their way as much as possible in the winery. All grapes hand-harvested and aged sur-lie.  This is a serious wine you can drink for fun!
