Sometimes rice is nice!

It’s easy for craft beer drinkers to be down on rice. After all, rice usually means “Yuck!” since Big Brews (Bud, Miller, etc.) cut their malt bills with corn and rice to make their beers lower in flavor for cheaper. However, in Japan, brewers use rice … well … probably also because it’s cheaper in Japan than barley, but most importantly because brewing things with rice is kind of what Japan does, ultimately producing dry, crisp, light-bodied lagers.
