Our new Wine of the Week!
La Cappuccina Soave 2019
Regularly $10.99/On Sale for $8.96
While the larger area of Soave is the domain of the Garganega grape, it is from those vines grown in the black earth of the Alpone Valley that it is most prized. The Tesseri family has been growing grapes and producing wine here since the 1890s, on a property thqt includes a 15th century Capuchin Chapel.
The Tessaris have been pioneers in organic farming methods in Italy, and since 1985 have been moving toward Biodynamic production. There is a commitment to biodiversity in the vineyards, and yields are kept very low to keep quality high. Their modern winery is solar-powered, and built into a mountain-side for temperature consistency. The current generation of siblings, Sisto, Pietro and Elena Tessari run the winery and farm.
This is their youngest, freshest Soave, though still from 20 year-old vines. After fermentation, the wine is allowed to rest on the lees for six months before bottling. Bright, aromatic, and lip-smackingly good, it’s also at an excellent price!
