Umberto Ceci began growing grapes along the Adriatic coastline of Marche, in Italy, in the 40s, and the estate has passed down through the family to the current, fourth-generation, siblings: Alessandra, Andrea and Francesco. The reputation of the estate grew with each generation; first nationally, and then internationally, driven primarily by the great value of their Verdicchio.
In the 1950s, Umberto’s son Amato and his wife increased production by acquiring new land, and began bottling their own wines. In 1992 Amato’s son Maurizio and his wife Serenella invested in a modern winery, which they called Vignamato. Maurizio and Serenella's children: Alessandra, Andrea and Francesco are now helping to shape the future of the business.
The Verdicchio Versiano Vignamato is made of 100% Verdicchio grapes sourced from the vineyards located on hills of the castles of Jesi (San Paolo di Jesi), in the Marche region, in the most ancient area defined as “Classical.”
The vineyards to produce the Verdicchio Versiano Vignamato are located 250 metres above sea level. The grapes undergo soft pressing, static decantation of the must, fermentation in steel tanks and then maturation for some months on the fermenting fine lees.
