Lemon Lime Gose

Back in 2011, the Gose (a German unfiltered wheat beer brewed with salted water) was something only brew geeks knew about. Thus being brew geeks is what led the folks at Brooklyn’s Sixpoint Brewing to ship a brewer all the way over from Germany to help them make one. After its initial in house release, they spent years tweaking it — taming its sourness, curtailing its salinity — until they got what they wanted, a refreshing session beer ready to fight off the heat still radiating from the city on evening rooftop cookouts. Thus was born the Sixpoint Jammer.

However, being the brewers who embrace their mad scientist vibe, they continued to tweak with the Jammer, producing different versions. What we have here now is their Citrus Jammer — still a sessionable Gose in both strength and taste but made even easier to drink with the addition of lemon and lime juice.

Though people call Goses “sours,” a strong tartness has never been part of the Jammer’s makeup. The lemon and lime juice take that a step farther giving a distinct citrusade feel to the brew. In fact the line between Citrus Jammer and shandy is a thin one, and one you’ll enjoy exploring can after can.
