Our new Wine of the Week!
Vignaioli Boniperti "Favolalunga" Colline Novaresi Vespolina 2016
Regularly $19.99/On Sale for $14.96

Ian d'Agata, in his authoritative book Native Wine Grapes of Italy, describes Vespolina as '...one of Italy's best native grape varieties...' and the Alto Piemonte in northern Italy is its home. A relative, perhaps even one of the parents of the much more famous Nebbiolo, it has some of the same characteristics as the version of Nebbiolo grown in the cooler regions of Valtellina and Ghemme: ie fantastic with food, with dark, fresh fruit and a woodsy nose.

Gilberto Boniperti is a third-generation winemaker who does everything by hand. The farming is organic, and the vines are anywhere from 17-45 years old. The result is one of the most surprising and delicious Italian reds we’ve had in months!
