Beer of the Week! 07/23/20
BrewDog Elvis Juice
Regularly $10.99 / Now on Sale for $9.96
Grapefruit IPA
If you’re like us, you probably think a grapefruit IPA is so five years ago, and you'd be right -- so fast are IPA trends rising and fading. But a faded trend ain't necessarily a bad trip.
In 2017, Scotland's BrewDog put out its Elvis Juice, an IPA with grapefruit peel laid over Extra Pale and Caramalt malts and bittered by a five-fingered citrus punch of Amarillo, Citra, Mosaic, Magnum, and Simcoe hops. We've been curious about this beer for a while but have balked at it because who drinks a grapefruit IPA anymore?
Well, apparently lots of people do, as the Elvis Juice is one of BrewDog's biggest sellers ... and now we see why. This beer is simply, the most successful grapefruit IPA we've ever tasted - if you measure success by its ability to capture and present that grapefruit juiciness up to you. The grapefruit is so strong, you almost lose the IPA.
It just goes to show that past ideas can be good ideas.
Bonus Beer of the Week (‘Cause we all need a little something special right now.)
Duck-Rabbit Barleywine
Regularly $15.99 / Now on Sale for $13.96
American Style Barleywine Ale
“The Duck-Rabbit Barleywine is the hoppiest of all the Duck-Rabbit brews. This is a Farmville-style Barleywine, crafted the way brewers in Farmville have always done. Loads of Amarillo hops give a piney citrusy bitterness that’s supported beautifully by a toffee malt backbone. ABV: 11.0%” — Duck-Rabbit Brewing Company
