Our new Wine of the Week!
Domaine Tire Pe "Diem" Bordeaux Rouge
Regularly $18.99/On Sale for $13.96

If you’ve been in our store (those were the days!) you know we’re not easily impressed by Bordeaux as such.  So when we find one we like, we feel obligated to feature it!

Hélène and David Barrault purchased Château Tire Pé in 1997, and have farmed it organically since 2008. The farm is a polyculture, where wild grasses, and “beneficial” insects, birds and animals are encouraged.  This is an especially rare sight in the Entre-Deux-Mers, at least historically.  This 100% Merlot hits all the right notes for us: deep, bright fruit, the earthiness we like for food matching, and, unlike a lot of the Bordeaux we see, nicely priced.  That’s particularly true this week as we offer this wine at a deep discount!  And if conversation at the table falters (and your guests aren’t too uptight) you can discuss the property’s name, which comes from the Tire Pé hill, that was so steep that working animals would let loose some “wind” as they strained to climb it.  Their use of the name tells you that the Barraults have a healthy respect for stories, and a lot of confidence in the deliciousness of their wine.  We do too, so don’t miss this one!
