Double IPA
It’s time for the yearly release of Tröegs Independent Brewing’s Nimble Giant. Coming straight out of Hershey, PA (the rap album title that never was), this Double IPA is perfect for those people who may be tired of the haze craze.
Pilsner and Vienna malts are there to provide just enough malt backbone to suggest some sweetness on the tip of the tongue and then do a quick bounce, leaving you with a dry foundation for the hops. And what hops we have!
Azacca and Mosaic hops give you a mix of grapefruit and tropical fruit, (Tröegs says “honeysuckle,” and we can see that.) while Simcoe comes in at the end to give you a grassy, citrusy finish. It’s this finish and the lightness of the malt that makes this DIPA work for the hot weather. It’s a big old-fashioned hop bomb that manages to be refreshing. (Use an IPA glass or chalice to get the most out of this beer.)
(Oh, and if you’re not tired of the haze craze, you can still enjoy this brew.)
Bonus Beer of the Week (‘Cause we all need a little something special right now.)
