Drew Curtis / Wil Wheaton / Greg Koch Stone Farking Wheaton W00tstout

Regularly $16.99 / Now on Sale for $15.96
Imperial Stout Brewed with Wheat, Rye, & Pecans — 1/4 Aged in Bourbon Barrels

We recently told a customer that we’re not scared of big beers. That’s probably why we just can’t quit this great big stout (or “this big, great stout” — works either way).

What started years ago as a collaboration between three unlikely, slightly geekish friends — Fark.com com founder Drew Curtis, actor and geek royalty Wil Wheaton, and Stone co-founder Greg Koch — has now become an annual event. Though the gleeful trio has not been against some tweaking (even bringing in guest brewers), the core beer remains the same,, and this year’s release is just as stunning as previous versions.

This thick, rich stout is brewed with barley, wheat, and rye malts with pecans added to the mash. Stone then takes a quarter of the batch and ages it in Bourbon barrels, blending it back in. The whole thing is relentlessly complex with notes raging from fruit to cocoa to vanilla to bourbon — all playing around with each other while, wondrously, the English Target hops stay present and round out the finish.

Bonus Beer of the Week (Because we like to have a bonus upon us.)

Diamondback Ostend Sundays with Pineapple

Regularly $14.99 / Now on Sale for $13.96
Blonde Ale with Pineapple

Diamondback Beer in Baltimore has been running since 2016. They style themselves as “… an experimental production brewery focused on unfiltered lagers, hop-forward ales, and beers of mixed-fermentation.” So, how they came to brew this fruited Blonde Ale is a mystery to us, but we’re glad they did.

Brewed with friends who live on West Ostend Street in Baltimore’s Federal Hill neighborhood, the Ostend Sundays with Pineapple is a dry Blonde Ale that has been conditioned on Pineapple puree.

Finally! A pineapple beer that’s not afraid to let you taste the pineapple! However, fear not fruit phobics! The brew is still dry, so we’re still talking “beer” not “punch.” Plus the citrus notes of the pineapple get picked up by the hops, enhancing them without throwing you into IPA territory (or even APA territory, for that matter).

At 4.4% ABV, if you’re looking for a tasty session ale, you could do much worse than to find yourself with this one.
