Beer of the Week! 04/06/21
Aslin Master of Karate
Regularly $19.99 / Now on Sale for $17.96
Double New England Style IPA
Aslin Beer Company has made quite a name for itself in Northern Virginia. For its first few years it was able to create a following just through direct sales from its Herndon facility and through placement in a few restaurants. However, the brewery that The Washington Post once called “the best brewery you’ve never heard of” is well and truly out of its small mold with tasting rooms in Herndon and Alexandria and with distribution to little old us.
Aslin co-owner Andrew Kelley claims that they were the first brewery south of Pennsylvania to brew New England Style IPAs (back in 2015). That act gives them plenty of time to plant a flag in the style. Their Master of Karate is a little moment of NEIPA poetry. One of their original recipes for the style, this brew overflows with tropical fruit juiciness from its Mosaic, Amarillo, and Galaxy hops. On top of that, the brew is delightfully creamy for extra fun drinking. We were not looking for a new New England Style IPA, but we’re glad this one found us.
