Jackie O’s Chomolungma

Brown Ale with Honey
This is what Jackie O’s Pub & Brewery in Athens, Ohio has to say about their Chomolungma Brown Ale …
“This brown ale was brewed to commemorate the 2007 Lungevity Everest Expedition. The people of Tibet call Mt. Everest ‘Chomolungma,’ and this exceptional ale carries on the spirit of the climb. Seven Malts, three hops, and 100 pounds of local wild flower honey give this ale an exceptional character. Baked muffins, dark fruit, bittersweet chocolate, rich honey and earthy subtle hops caress the palate.”
This is what we have to say … YUM!! With Athens sitting just on the edge of the Appalachian Mountain Range to the east, we can allow Jackie O’s their mountain fascination. What we’re interested in is this delicious beer! Wildflower honey folds itself into 2-Row, Chocolate, Aromatic, Crystal 60, Munich, Special Roast, and White Wheat malts lending just enough sweetness to intensify the malt profile underneath the Northern Brewer and Willamette hops. What you get is this complex, nutty, toasty, tasty beer that reminds you that good Honey Nut Ales are the way to go!
This is the perfect beer to help you step into fall. (Don’t let this one get too cold so that you can savor all the light-bodied malt goodness!)
Bonus Beer of the Week (‘Cause Climate Change won’t let it be fall just yet.)
Basic City Te Reo
Regularly $11.99 / Now on Sale for $10.96
Pilsner with New Zealand Hops
Brilliance. Brilliance in brewing. That’s what we’re calling Basic City’s new Te Reo Pilsner. The origin story is simple. Basic City head brewer Derek Hornig asked himself, “What would happen if we brewed a Pilsner with New Zealand hops like … oh, say … Pacifica and Riwaka?” Well, Derek, what you get is an utterly lovely, light-bodied, tropical lager. And if you do a little brewing witchcraft, it will still manage to be crisp and Pilsner-like on the finish. But, then again, you already know that by now. Don’t you, you rascal, you?
