Barbera is the most planted grape in the Piedmont region of Italy and we can see why. So often it delivers a lot of bang for the buck and the plump red fruits (cherry, plums etc) make for a great everyday wine. The Rocche Costamagna fits that description to a tee. It is approachable but not insubstantial and would make for a great house or party red and could also be set aside for a couple years of aging. I doubt our bottles will last long enough for that sort of thing, but you may have more patience at your disposal than we do!
