Midland Construction Riesl-eng
Regularly $21.99/On sale for $19.79
(88% Riesling, 12% Petit Manseng)

Midland Construction was originally a vineyard project started in 2007 in Fort Defiance VA by the Jordan Family on the family farm. In 2016 Ted Jordan passed the project to his sons, Ben, Gray and Tim, and a couple years later they released the first vintage of Midland wines. Their wines represent some of our favorites, not just from Virginia, but in the shop. 2020 was not an easy vintage, and as a result the Jordan brothers have released some wines that are lighter than their counterparts from other years. They have cheekily slapped a red label on them to indicate the effect of 2020 on the wineries ledger. This wine has also been released at a lower price point, and while we don’t think that was necessary, we are happy to take advantage! You should too.

Cellers de Can Suriol Azimut Brisat Orange
Regularly $22.99/On sale for $20.69
(Parellada, Sumoll Blanc, Garnatxa Blanca, Moscatell)

Cellers de Can Suriol has been on the same land in the Penedés, farmed by the Suriol family since the 1600s. Over those many many years the farm has shifted from a mix of agriculture and animals to a vineyard, has survived Phylloxera in 1890, released its first bottled wines to local taverns in the 1940s, expanded to a public market in the 1980s, and to organic agriculture in the 1990s. Phew! They are most well known for their Cavas but the Azimut line is full of joyful and easy wines for sharing in the hopes of promoting organic agriculture. Brisat (Brisa means pomace in Catalan) is the name for skin contact white wines in the Penedes regions and this one sees five days on the skins and then 3 months in underground tank. It is a light orange wine with approachable fruit and freshness. A must for spring time sipping with friends and flexible with all sorts of meals.
