Venica Jesera Pinot Grigio
Regularly $23.99/On sale for $21.59
(100% Pinot Grigio)
Venica & Venica came into being in 1930 when (grandfather) Daniele Venica bought the winery’s main building, Ronco del Cero. Located in the Collio DOC in the very north of Italy near the border with Slovenia, Venica & Venica is now on its 3rd generation with 40 hectares of vines. They are most well known for textural and aromatic white wines and this lovely Pinot Grigio is an easy going example of their style. The grapes are macerated on their skins for 4-8 hours and then fermented and matured for six months on lees in a mix of large wooden barrels and stainless steel. The wine is blended and bottled during full moons from the end of March through July. The upshot is this is a lovely, fresh Pinot Grigio with the added complexity of some savory notes and texture.
Fatalone Gioia del Colle Primitivo
Regularly $24.99/On sale for $22.49
(100% Primitivo)
Fatalone is a founding member of the Consortium for the Protection of the Wines D.O.C Gioia del Colle which represents over 800 wineries and is committed to promoting the wines of the area and establishing strict quality controls among its members. They were included in the 7th edition of the World Atlas of Wine by Jancis Robinson and Hugh Johnson as one of the four most representative wines of southern Italy. I’m sure our opinion doesn't hold as much weight as that of those esteemed wine writers, but we can agree and have been fans of their wines for many years now. This Primitivo is full of intense berry and plum flavors but is not heavy in weight. It has plenty of freshness to make it perfect with food, but is delicious on its own. It wouldn’t hurt to drink it cool and it will happily pair with meat or veggies off the drill, Pizza or pasta night or even hearty seafood meals. Organic, native yeasts. During fining the wine is treated to music therapy. If only we took care of our own nervous systems so well!
