Île de Beauté ("Beautiful Isle) is the name of the IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée) region covering the French Mediterranean island of Corsica. There, Reine de la Ville uses Pinot Noir grown in shale, limestone, and granite soil before being aged three to six months in stainless steel.
The full, fresh fruit of this light/medium-bodied red is smarlty tempered partly by its light tannins but mostly by a surprising bedrock of minerality (see below). Try it with a little bit of chill on these hot days.
