Thousands of years ago, Southern France was called Occitania, and the groups of people who lived there had a distinct culture and language. Over the centuries, people would refer to the area as “the place where they speak the language of the Oc.” The “language of the Oc” (or “langue d'Oc” in French) came to be known as the name for this region — Languedoc.
In the Languedoc, it is customary to blend many grape varieties together, and this blend contains 55% Syrah, 35% Grenache Noir, 7% Carignan and 3% Cinsault.
