Evolution Pine’hop’le IPA

American IPA with Pineapple
People who make it their business to think such things think that the pineapple originated in Brazil and Paraguay. Indigenous people spread it throughout the region such that during Christopher Colombus’ second voyage to the Caribbean, he was introduced to them on the Carribean island of Guadaloupe, well over 1000 miles away. Columbus brought pineapples back to his royal Spanish benefactors in 1496, when King Ferdinand became a fan. Thus begins the pineapple’s grand journey of political and social significance. Best not to dwell too much on its details. Some of it’s pretty grim. We’re just going to say that of all the fruits that you can put in an IPA, the pineapple is the best. There. On record. We offer as proof of statement, Evolution Brewing Company’s Pine’hop’le Pineapple IPA.
Originally released in 2016, the Pine’hop’le IPA is now a flagship beer for the Salisbury, MD craft brewer. They add “loads of pineapple juice” to this IPA, but its strength is that you don’t get loads of pineapple flavor. The Pine’hop’le is a dry IPA, not a glass of Hi-C with hops. The pineapple is deeply embedded in the beer, while still fattening out the overall flavor, giving you both hop bitterness and a touch of fruit — a pineapple grace note.
Bonus Beer of the Week (‘Cause we believe in a “brewsome twosome.”)
Dewey Flash of Diamonds
Normally $15.99 / Now on Sale for $14.96
Hazy IPA
Dewey Beer from Dewey Beach, Delware is like its name. It’s bright, pretty, and intense — almost painful to look at, but too appealing to look away from.
The Flash of Diamonds is a hazy IPA made with Galaxy and Citra hops, two very popular hops. Whereas the Australian Galaxy gives out some tropical fruit notes, what we really taste is the Citra. If there is a juiciness to this dry IPA, it’s more like tart tangerine. Each sip gives you a little zing like you get when you lick a lime.
The Flash of Diamonds is for the people who missed having their IPA give them a little smack to the tastebuds on its way down.
