White Wine of the Week

Cantine Colosi
Grillo

Normally $20.99 /
Now on Sale for $16.96
100% Grillo (Sicilia DOC)

How It’s Made:

Colosi’s Grillo grapes are dry farmed on the volcanic island of Salina, in terraced vineyards, planted in mineral rich soil. After a brief maturation period to collect the aromatic compounds, Colosi ages their Grillo wine for three months in stainless steel and then for four months in acacia barrels to round out the aromatics.

Why We Like It:

First, we just dig Sicilian wines. Second, we dig Cantine Colosi’s wines, especially. Colosi’s Grillo is a delicate white that tastes of ash and sea breezes, ocean worn stones, and hints of mint or aniseed on the backend of the finish. We like to drink this white just a little cooler than room temperature.

Red Wine of the Week

J. Denuzière
Les Sérines
Côtes du Rhône

Normally $24.99 /
Now on Sale for $18.96

Syrah, Grenache (Côtes du Rhône AOP)

How It’s Made:

Working terraced vineyards, held in by granite stone walls, in the northern Rhône’s Condrieu region, winemaker Caroline Moro makes wine with the heart of a scientist and the intuition of an artisan. This red is mostly her own Syrah with some additional Grenache which she vinifies with minimal intervention.

Why We Like It:

It’s light-bodied and refreshing and an opportunity to have a Rhône red that isn’t from the Grenache dominant south. Moro’s Syrah delivers peppery raspberry fruit sitting in a basket of light tannins.

Beer of the Week

Charles Towne Fermentory
Short Jams

Normally $16.99 /
Now on Sale for $15.96 (16.9 oz can four-pack)
India Pale Lager (6.0% ABV)

How It’s Made:

Charleston, SC’s Charles Towne Fermentory ferments the malt for this brew with their house lager yeast and bitters the beer with Mosaic, Cashmere, & Azacca hops. They leave it — as is today’s fashion — unfiltered.

Why We Like It:

It’s just like CTF says. The Short Jams is like an IPA “with a touch less malt character and bitterness.” It’s high hop flavor with low malt body, boasting fruit notes and a slight acid/piney buzz. Also, we love that Charles Towne comes out and says this is an IPL unlike all the breweries that have tried to hide the fact that their hoppy lagers are lagers (looking at you almost all the makers of the “Cold IPA!”).
