This weekend will see the appearance of what the eastern indigenous people called the “Snow Moon:” the first true full moon in February. There are some variations in the moon names, but in general, the same ones were used among the Algonquin tribes from New England on west to Lake Superior. In honor of this rather lovely name, we are dedicating this Friday’s tasting to wines grown in snowy climes. From the foothills of the Alps, to the Finger Lakes, to the high planes of the Andes, many of our favorite wines (particularly with food!) come from cold climates and high elevations. Join us in marveling at both the moon, and the crisp acidity and fresh juiciness of these wines!
Wines to be tasted:
Eugene Carrel Gamay
Eugene Carrel Cremant
Viña Cobos Felino Malbec Mendoza
Red Tail Vineyards Blaufrankish
